Red White and Royal Blue - Casey McQuiston

RATING 4.5/5

This book is so amazing. I read this at the beginning of my IGCSE experience when I should have been doing homework. Even though I was avoiding responsibilities (oops), I still feel like it was the perfect time to read this book. I love reading romances when I'm stressed, and of course, I love queer romances. Unfortunately there just isn't a lot of really good queer books out there, so I normally just resort to wattpad (gasp I know). But this book, couldn't have been more perfect for me.
In the spirit of this book, I'm going to make a list to why:

1. queer books are just so amazing
2. They are celebrities, and I love fictional books about people going through what it's like to be a celebrity, it's just so fun
3. They were both just such amazing characters, I love them
4. It was a hate to love scenario, like omg, I love those so much.
5. They sent such cute messages to each other
Okay the list goes on forever, I just, highly recommend this book, nooowww on to the spoilery section

Let's start off with Alex. I loved Alex so much, and I'm so glad he was the main character of this book. He was honestly so refreshing. I just loved how he cared so much about work and his studies. I love ambitious characters. One of my pet peeves is when a character doesn't do anything the whole book. I can understand that most of the book is probably about their romance, but I still want to know what they are interested in! Anyways, I loved how overconfident he was sometimes and I loved just all of it. One of my favourite parts of the book was when Alex kissed Nora during the big new years eve party right in front of Henry. Okay, it was horrible to Henry, but it was just hilarious reading it from Alex's perspective.

Nora and I kiss every new year and it's all fun and games ahaha, omg why does henry look so sad... omg henry is going away... omg where did henry go... henry... hEnRY!! I'm going to look for henry... omg henry looks so cute under that tree... omg henry so handsome... I'm going to sit next to him... "HI HENRY"... *henry kisses him* OMG what I'm gay? no, I'm not... what... ... okie might be a little gey... hEnrY wHerE aRe yOU gOinG!!!

That was my little insight into the brain of Alex Claremont.

Now, Henry, Henry is just such a bean. He is a bean. I just couldn't stop imaging the British accent and Alex's reaction to it. I loved Henry with all of my heart, and I just loved their relationship so much they were just so amazing, loved them.

One thing I didn't expect at all was that their emails got leaked, I did not expect that. I thought that maybe there was going to be like a photo that leaked or they were caught or something, but I would hate if all my texts were leaked or anything like that. That would just make me feel so vulnerable.

I loved this book so much, but one thing that kind of surprised me was that it wasn't in 1st POV. Normally when you read romance you expect it to be in 1st. Once I started reading it though, I did get used to it and it felt natural, so other than that, I don't have any other criticism.

I loved this, one of my favourites of the year
